SECURE YOUR COMPUTER

Although Kids Web Menu protects children from the Internet, you also need to protect your computer from children.
At the very minimum, you should never let a child use your computer while logged on with an Administrator account. With Administrator privileges, kids can mistakenly delete files, change system settings, and even install software.
To prevent the installation of unauthorized software, you should create an account for each child with only Limited Access.
On Windows XP, to create an account with Limited Access:
- On the Start menu, click Control Panel
- In the Control Panel, click User Accounts
- Under Pick a Task, click Create a new account
- Enter the account's name, then click Next
- Be sure to select the Limited account type, then click Create Account
For even greater security, download the free Shared Computer Toolkit from Microsoft. This toolkit is especially necessary for computers in public locations such as schools and libraries.
